Realigned Rittenhouse Road at Ocotillo Road to be opened June 18

The opening of the realigned Rittenhouse Road in the vicinity of Ocotillo Road is scheduled to take place Monday, June 18. The old intersection of Rittenhouse and Ocotillo roads, which was severely skewed and located immediately adjacent to the railroad crossing, will be permanently closed at that time. All Rittenhouse Road traffic will then use the new roadway alignment, crossing Ocotillo Road at the new traffic signal approximately 1/4 mile west of the railroad tracks.

The new Rittenhouse Road will be continuous across Ocotillo Road at the new traffic signal activated last week. Through traffic will no longer need to turn in order to stay on Rittenhouse Road. Drivers should remain alert through the work zone and pay careful attention to the electronic message signs for guidance.

Although the new roadway alignment will be open, traffic will still be restricted to one lane in each direction as construction continues along various sections of Rittenhouse Road. The completed 4- to 6-lane roadway is expected to fully open to traffic on or about Oct. 31, 2007.
